Message by Practico: Department of Kannada Studies (DKS) was started at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore 1969-70 to publish agricultural literature in Kannada in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy of Education commission to promote regional languages along with the National Language. Commission for Scientific Terminology (CSTT) is providing grants every year for the publication of Text Books / Reference Books in regional languages. The department. has published more than 400 books on Agriculture and allied subjects. The Department of Kannada Studies is vested with the responsibility of editing and publication of books in Kannada pertaining to Agriculture and allied subjects for the benefit of Farmers, Students, Scientists, Extension workers, and others. In addition, the department undertakes the responsibility of preparing Kannada versions of the University’s annual reports and convocation material. The Department has started teaching Kannada Subject 2015-16 for 1st year Under Graduate Students for 2 semesters. A separate course for non-Kannada Students is also being taught in Kannada usage and communication.
